Not a problem! Cakes have a tendency to look much harder than they actually are to make (shhhh, don't tell anyone!). If you know all the steps, you simply just focus on each part and then suddenly you have this amazing looking cake! Each tutorial is broken down into short videos so that you can take each step at a time. And if you get stuck, you can always post a question in my FREE Facebook Group to get direct access to me and other bakers.
Each tutorial is broken down into short videos so that you can take each step at a time. I've split the tutorial into videos with logical stopping points, so that you could choose to take your time and make the cake over a series of evenings or you can do the whole thing in one evening. Whichever you feel more confident with and have time for. Every single cake could be decorated in an afternoon.
Definitely not! I use these tools because I have them. Whilst I provide a complete toolkit list so that you know what is used, there is no expectation that you have to have these items. Throughout the videos, I offer alternatives that can be used in place of professional tools. Items that everyone will likely have in their kitchen. If there was one tool that will make or break how your cake looks, it would be a cake scraper* (but even this I suggest a DIY substitute!)
This would depend on whether you chose to make the cakes from scratch or buy them and also whether you chose to buy or make your filling, ganache, precoloured fondant etc.
I made each cake for less than £10.
You will have lifetime access. Once purchased, you will be sent an email containing a link to all the videos and guides. So you can revisit the videos at any time on any device.
Absolutely! Throughout the tutorials I demonstrate how to adapt the features based on the cake in front of you, not a cookie cutter template that forces you to make the same size as me and restricts your creativity. These tutorials will not only teach you how to make that specific cake, but how to design and build features for other cakes.
The cakes I purchased were 5-6" in diameter and so could feed up to 20 people.
Each cake will show you how to make a top forward cake that's strong and reliable enough to withstand travel. But I have then designed each one to teach different skills. For example the Santa cake is covered in Buttercream not fondant, so that you can learn how to do a Top Forward cake with just buttercream. The penguin cake develops the skills of creating pairs (e.g. flippers, eyes etc.) that are the same shape and size. The gonk cake teaches you how to create hairstyles and so on. If you want to improve your cake skills beyond just the one cake or are looking to make multiple and gift them, then the Festive Bundle Offer is for you!
I actually make each cake with storebought ones and I even show you how to utilise the cake toppings to avoid having to make extra fillings. Each cake was made using a different flavour from three different shops, and nowadays you can buy premade buttercream, ganache from your local supermarket, so there's no limit to the possibilities!
